I didn’t have time to paint my nails yesterday, but my homie Beth complimented my nails anyway, because she’s sweet like that.
So, before I slap some lacquer on, here are my naked nails! Obviously some grow faster than others, haha.
(They’re shiny because of the nail treatment I use, OPI Nail Envy).
Always nice to get a photo in actual sunlight instead of my crappy wonky lighting setup!
I got mad at these for being sloppy, so I wiped them off ~10 minutes after I did them…what have we learned? Don’t drink and do tape gradient nail art. I’m an idiot.
polka dots ~ purple is Charming by Revlon!
anyone know any polishes or polish/pearlescent topcoat combos that would help mimic this amazing mug’s surface?? it is the best.
itsrayychool asked: Hey your nail art is so inspiring!!! I was wondering what brand of holographic nail polish you use?
Hi! I use two different shades from the Color Club Halo Hues collection - Angel Kiss (blue) and Harp On It (silver). They are amazing! Check out the whole collection, they have a really wide range of colors.
I also have Layla Mercury Twilight - it was my first holo - but it is more expensive and a little patchy on the application. Still decent though.
I’ve heard good things about Urban Outfitters’ holos - though I haven’t personally tried them - but may be worth checking the sale bins next time you’re in UO!
1. First nail polish
Revlon Blue Lagoon
2. Sickest blue
This is a really hard one, since blues are my favorite…but I use Urban Outfitters “Blue Velvet” soooo much, and it rules in every way, so…
3. Number of bottles owned
I recently passed 100, not sure of the exact number currently
4. Priciest bottle
My first holo, Layla’s “Mercury Twilight” - though I don’t really use it, now that I have a few of Color Club’s holos.
5. Cheapest bottle
Most of mine are pretty cheap - I guess any of the handful of $1 Wet N Wilds I have. Those polishes are in heavy rotation for me - they may be cheap, but they have good colors and formulas!
6. Favorite indie brand
I don’t own any :(
7. Favorite mainstream brand
This is a tough one…I probably most appreciate Sinful Colors, though, due to price and having some really interesting choices!
8. Best glitter
I prefer flakies when it comes to glitter, and for me it’s a tie between Essie Shine Of The Times and Zoya Maisie.
9. Back up shade
Not sure what this means, but if it means go-to color when you don’t know what to do, I’d have to say CQ’s Blue Creme. It’s just a Rite Aid cheapo polish, but damn do I love this color. Great application, too. It’s the perfect sky blue. I use it so much!
10. Least favorite nail polish trend
I kind of like all of them at least a little bit
11. Favorite celebrity nail art
um mine obviously *hair toss*
12. Remover of choice
Evil, cuticle-drying, ruthless pure acetone. Anything else takes too long!
13. Cuticle treatment
I use cuticle oil (whatever I find at the beauty supply store) but also Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream. I like the Burt’s Bees stuff because I can use it throughout the day without having messy oily hands!
14. Longest you’ve ever spent doing your nails
I don’t know, all day long? It’s a problem. I’m so slow. And I mess up like 3 times before I get it decent…
15. Biggest nail art pet peeve
When I spend forever on a design and get it juuuuust right and then it doesn’t matter because all I can look at are my thirsty sad lil cuticles. It’s gotten better lately but ughhhhh makes me crazy.
16. Best runway nail art
I don’t keep up with fashion stuff really but I love these I saw floating around a while back
17. Nail art crush
Madeline Poole, master of the universe
katie-my-lady asked: I keep my nails short out of habit so what would you recommend as far as designs for and care of short nails?
I had to rush my nails for the House of Cards wrap party last night, but it was a dimly-lit soiree, so no big deal. I really wanted to paint red on the underside, but ran out of time!
Nails: Ciate Pepperminty, CQ Creme Blue, e.l.f. Lilac
Nosh: Sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich from Wegmans

The Baltimore City Paper liked the nails I did for their Best of Baltimore party so much, they sent me free nail polish!
I love nail mail. Particularly the free kind. I have more coming my way soon, too…!
